Web Design

wwwYour web-site is one of your key interfaces for the purpose of communicating whatever your message is. It organizes and gives form to a message in a way that adds value and meaning. A good web-site functions to organize, clarify, persuade, and add drama to messages you want the world to hear. Infonetwork employs straight-forward visual design and a flexible creative process to create visually pleasing and very usable web-sites. We prefer an uncluttered design, much like this site as it makes pleasant viewing while giving impact to your message.

Infonetwork web-sites adhere to the latest web standards such as strict XHTML 1.0 and CSS. All our web-sites are based on visual templates that can be set for the entire site or even associated with individual pages. These templates determine the visual representation of content to the user. When an author adds a new article to the web site the item is published via the standardised site template, ensuring that the entire site retains the same look and feel or theme. The template interfaces directly with an underlying CSS style sheet. This layered modular approach provides high degrees of flexibility in changing layout later if needed. Indeed to change the entire look of your site, all you need to do is select a different template.

There are basically two ways of constructing and maintaining a web site.

  1. The old system - File-based. By using web authoring software such as Adobe Dreamweaver the creation and maintenance of a web site is done off-line on your own computer using the software's graphical web construction facilities. When changes have been made you publish them to your web server by copying the changed files from your computer to the Internet web server. This type of web-design methodology has been around for many years and is the basis of still the majority of small web-sites on the Internet at present. This is a Web 1.0 era technology.
  2. Data-base based systems. A file-based systems can become difficult to manage as the size of the web-site increases. They also do not implement dynamically generated data very well. To solve these problems, Content Management System (CMS) were developed. This is software that resides on the hosting web-server, not on your own PC. They not only automate site content management by storing all data in a data-base, but also allow non-technical people to make changes directly on the web-site using browser-based editors. Additional features such as forums, blog structures, shopping carts, and picture galleries are either built in to the software or widely available as plug-ins. We design and develop web-sites using the best open source CMS systems - Joomla! which can quickly create highly interactive multi-language web sites, online communities, media portals, blogs and eCommerce applications.
Joomla provides an easy-to-use graphical user interface that simplifies the management and publishing of large volumes of content including HTML, documents, and rich media. Joomla! is used by organisations of all sizes for Public Web sites, Intranets, and Extranets and is supported by a community of thousands of users.
